Decision-support tools for sailors, amateur to pro

react mapbox electron

At The Great Circle, I spent most of my time building the frontend web (and desktop, via Electron) applications that help sailors make decisions — from weekend amateurs to professionals.

Around the frontends, I built the backend services to pair with them, designed or played with algorithms when the occasion arose, and put together the data pipelines that pulled in and reshaped the data they ran on.

Weather in, decisions out

A recurring thread was integrating new weather-data sources into the backend: retrieval and manipulation pipelines that turned each new feed into something the apps could route and reason with.
